I went ahead and downloaded the 64 bit R2.75.... ran the execution file and installed without a hitch.... now it shows I have an OLDER driver installed than previously.... 6.0.1.7246 (date: 14/05/2014).... how could that happen...? Surely driver installers that do the 'uninstall current driver...
Hmmmm.... now I'm even more confused.... the link I speak of is at the beginning of this sticky thread by Brink and the driver version is the same format as the one I have showing in my Device manager->Sound-> Realtek HD Audio->properties->Driver
No mention of R2.75.
I have a Samsung laptop
Excuse my ignorance but if I go to the link to get this latest Realtek driver and extract the files from the zip can someone tell me where among the huge number of files is the Driver installer please...?
RtlUpd64 ..... 'update and remove for Windows x64 or x86_32' ..... is the only application...
I have EasyBCD on board my Win utilities folder.... tried to change bootloader control... makes no difference to the sound issue
What it has done is add an extra screen (or 2) for booting purposes.... and in fact when I power on I now get the very pretty GUI Win 8.1/Ubuntu dual boot screen...
My BIOS is Phoenix version 07PA and has a selection which reads 'UEFI support' and in the definition pane states "if enabled will allow booting to BIOS OS or UEFI OS"... that's exactly how it's written.... which seems a bit odd as most new machines have CSM or UEFI with a secure boot...
Having just tried a process of elimination by trying all variables I can narrow it down.
It ONLY happens if I choose Restart from Ubuntu.... Shutdown and start from power button choosing to boot Windows doesn't result in the issue.
Also.... the issue is ONLY at the speaker jack.... if i unplug...
I have 8.1 and Ubuntu in dual boot.
Sound works perfectly until...... I restart from Ubuntu and load Windows... then I have to put Windows to sleep and wake up again to get the sound to work.... right pain in the rectum it is....
Does we know how to fix this anyone please...?
Nick
Already tried that.... tried everything.... every single possible installer config .... I wish to log the process.... can you tell me how to create a log-file of the fail which happens at exactly the same point regardless of how I try
Hello.... it would seem that you didn't read my post properly..... I've clearly explained that the USB Flash drive has been tried along with DVD and using every different build.
i wish to log the fail to debug it..... please read carefully.... everything is carefully and properly explained in...
Can I run USB installer from inside CMD ?
I have a Samsung RV-511-S01UK
i3 380M @2.53Ghz
6GB RAM
Nvidia discrete 1GB dedicated
It came pre-installed with Win 7 x64 and currently runs 8.1 with no issue.
I tried out the Win 10 TP in a VM and liked what I was seeing... so figured I'd use a spare...
Win 8.1.... For me there is no 'Advanced Options' tab inside the Troubleshoot menu... so I can't alter UEFI secure boot function status in order to set up dual boot to linux.... the Troubleshoot only takes me to 'advanced startup options' menu... nothing else... No 'Refresh' or 'Reset' tabs...
@Akeo... I pre-format my 32GB thumb drive to FAT32 and then try to create an installer using your latest Rufus. It reports to me that it cannot use FAT32 with 'this type of ISO'.... referring to the Windows 10 TP ISO's....?
MS themselves suggest that the thumb drive should be FAT32 for Win 10...
Thanks Pete ( is it Pete I believe ?) The Toshiba Qosmio X70-B-102 is on it's way back to Toshiba for a full refund. I'm not happy with the level of support that I've discovered is available here in the UK for Toshiba computer products. The last straw was discovering that Toshiba have jumped on...
yes... I did wonder about that... so I let it sit there for about an hour with no change.... grrrrrrrr
I'll open the task manager and check if there's any activity going on... however...Is there a system log I can run at the same time as running the installer which would show at what point it's...
