In Windows 7 there was a kb to fix the issue of not able to install KBs.
Not sure if there is one for 8.1. Also it could be that not all Kbs are applicable to your system.
Hi Brink, thanks for the reply. I did look at the tut but not sure what tab processes mean (?)
How can you tell what's running with 32-bit and what's running with 64-bit?
I have issue with IE11 on my Windows 7 and it constantly crashing. On my Windows 8.1 it works well. Maybe something else that's causing it other than IE updates.
I'm beginning to get used to the 'non-start' menu. I just shortcut on desktop the most used apps, as well as Control Panel, RDP etc and i'm set. I don't think i'll be needing the classic menu now hack or when it comes out.
Hi there,I guess I can see what it gives but the key shown in Properties has OEM in it whereas on the sticker behind the battery on has letters and number which is actual product key.
I just want to see what the script shows.
Edit: This shows the Pro key although I thought I saw a sticker at...
So this vbs script translates the pre-installed OS oem key to an actuat product key that you could use to reinstall the OS, or even use on another machine?
Your have a super old dell laptop. I'm amased you were able to install Windows 8 on it. I would not bother finding missing drivers for the D630, the OS will not function properly. Use your license on a newer model.
Go into regedit on One of the acers and search Dell. If it comes up the you have used a Dell copyrighted DVD on an Acer's machine.
Can you take a pic of the DVD?
I've got these Windows 8 DVD from dell at work, I'll check it out.
Btw, why would sell send out 20 DVDs to our 20 Dell machine which are all purchased with identical spec?
