I installed Win 8 Pro. I got it from Microsoft Action Pack. I left the system off for a week. Now when I turn it on I get this:

"Recovery

Your PC needs to be repaired

The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contains errors.

File: \$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Windows.NEW\WINDOWS\system32\winload.exe
Error code: 0xc000000f

You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.

I cannot repair it or reinstall. When I boot with a diag disk, It tell me the hard drive is bad. Has anybody see a new installation on a fairly new 500GB drive ruin the drive?

I'm not quite sure of how you would solve this.

Load on a different OS possibly if you can boot from USB. Ubuntu may load, if XP, Vista, 7 doesn't boot.

Maybe I'll be able to solve it,
I'll get back to you!

If it cannot be written to, use an external hdd. (If you own one) Or use another PC's hdd. You may need to attempt to recover it in any way you can.

Sorry about not being too much help!
