    Hi samgabbay !

In my opinion, if you want to test Win 8 you should keep Windows 7 by now. Go for dual-boot. Windows 8 RTM can be downloaded as 90-day trial from TechNet or MSDN (if you have an account). The leaked versions can be installed but not activated.

So I would install the trial version and wait for the global release in october.

    Good luck !

    Hello Sam,

I would also recommend to keep Windows 7 installed, and dual boot with Windows 8 for testing purposes until you can purchase a copy of Windows 8 RTM in October.

The product key number for Windows 8 CP will not work for any other release of Windows 8 other than the CP release.

    Hope this helps,

Sam, if you can't Dual Boot the "Old" way by using another partition or drive because you've consumed your drive for Windows 7, do a search on the internet for Dual Booting with a VHD. Basically you create a VHD in Windows 7 and setup you're computer to dual boot between your main drive and the VHD.

Here is one to get you started:

I don't know about the CP. The RP (Release Preview) expires on January 16, 2013.

One problem: no upgrade-in-place is permitted from the RP to the released version. You may use an upgrade license, but a custom (clean) install is required.

There's another option: the 90 day test version of Win8 Enterprise. It's release code.

Just to add more to this.

The CP has the same January 15th 2013 expiration date.

While you are able to upgrade from RP to RTM, but nothing from the RP is kept, so you might as well do a clean install.
