We were talking about video, not communication. Only thing that came up in that portion was the old 9600, and 14,400 bps (bits per second) analog external modems that connected thru the serial port. CAN you at LEAST keep up?

I don't have to look at the videos. You can create little hobby devices that do almost anything and the videos pertain to a little hobby device. I don't see them passing video signals over a serial port, but I might have missed that.

Baud rates can be a measure analog or digital signals. For a purely digital connection 1Bd = 1 bit. When used in regard to modems it usually indicated the number of discrete symbols that could be transmitted/received over the analog side of the connection.

Don't you know anything? Wait...you've made the answer to that apparent.

Still looking for the "commonly used analog serial video" connection.

This is desperate even by your standards.

    Are you talking about this?

The AJA HD10A is a stand alone analog to digital converter. How does this relate to PC video? Further, I don't see anything about a serial interface, either.

Try again, but next time think about what you post. Don't cut and paste something you don't understand.

Hippyegypsey doesn't understand the difference between analog and digital. Let me quote from the very first sentence of the Wikipedia article he linked:
Excusez-moi? How can you make a statement like that? I may not be the savviest member here, but I certainly do know the difference between analogue and digital in the theoretical sense. If you meant so far as cables are concerned, I'll grant you that. If so, I suggest you be careful how you word statements. I lived in an analogue world way before digital was ever thought of. Personal Computer Related Memories - I Remember: Before PCs, stereo, color TV, remote controls, and disposable diapers.

So far as connectors and cables are concerned that may or may not carry analogue or digital, I'll let you two battle that out. I was following the thread and searched "serial port" and posted my findings. You stated "There is no such thing as a "serial/video port". I have these plugs on my flat-screen monitor and PC.

Either way, I could give a rat's ***, although I'll learn something. How about we discuss particle physics and the recent breakthrough they made lately at CERN. I'd be more interested in that.

Most of all, how's the project coming along, Jack?

There you go, step one done, step 2 go to your local Radio Shack and grab off the rack a Coaxial to Serial cable, or Serial to Coaxial cable, which ever way makes you happy.

Then why make such an ignornant post?

Ok, maybe you do know the difference between analog and digital. You don't know the difference between a connector and a signaling protocol.

Oh...I bought my first computer 7 years before you bought yours.

    Sigh

Sheesh Tony, you forgot about the daily, or weekly trips to the woodshed.

That's pretty funny, really. But, come on. Is that the best you can do Mike? Are you tired of searching Google and cutting and pasting from Wikipedia? How about posting an example of an PC analog serial video connection?

Why don't you quit embarrassing yourself and simply admit that you simply missed Jack's response when he told you your (not totally unreasonable) suggestion to try an analog video connection didn't help; and that your subsequent use of the term "analog serial port" is neither common or technically correct and you should have clarified by specifying you really meant "VGA/SVGA"?
