Solved BIOS Boot Options Missing

Hi all,

I am running Win 8.1 Pro on an ASUS laptop N56VJ that originally had Win 8. It was updated to 8.1 quite some time ago. In preparation to do a clean install of Win 8.1 I noticed that the only boot option listed is the windows boot manager.

I've looked through other posts but do not see if this is critical to have the other boot options available. Is this normal to only have the windows boot manager shown? What steps should I take next?

I tried the F9 key to "optimize defaults" but nothing changed.

Attached are some pics of the BIOS and I also ran the disk management function.

Thanks in advance,
Bas

Hi Bat 1,

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure if you noticed, there are no other boot options listed even when I turn off Secure Boot, Disable Fast Boot, and enable CSM & enable Launch PXE OpROM. See pic below.

Do I need to be concerned about this?

On the BIOS tab with Save & exit, there is an option to restore defaults, does anyone know if this could fix the boot options or do I need to create a new boot option.

Thanks,
Bas

That is what it is called
I noticed that the only boot option listed is the windows boot manager.

Be it Bootmgr or Bootmgr.efi

that bootmgr will invoke the BCD Info

Hi All,

This is solved. Here is what I found;

If I disable Secure Boot and restart I can boot from a USB device

If I disable Secure Boot, enable CSM, enable PXE OpRom and reboot I am able to see the following boot options

1) Windows Boot Manager
2) P2 Matshitabd -CMB...
3) Atheros Boot Agent

See pic

Thanks for assistance with this !
