Hi,
Ive read a couple of posts on here about not being able to boot to recovery but my situation is slightly different in terms of whats currently running on the laptop.
It came shipped with Windows 8 but as most found it was horrific, so i have access to my companies MSDN subscription so i installed Windows 7 manually onto the C drive, wiping 8 out completely.
When i did that i chose to install 7 onto the C drive during setup and didnt delete any exisiting recovery/system partitions (apart from there may have been a C and D partition, i cant quite remember to be honest, if there was a D: DATA partition then id have deleetd that and created 1 big partition for C:
Now i want to get shot of the laptop and obviosuly dont want to sell it with my companies MSDN W7 copy on so want to put it back to Win8 OEN that shipped with it.
However F9 doesnt find anything, just the Windows 7 Install which it goes on to boot into.
If i ASUS Recovery that i downloaded from within W7 it errors "Recovery partiton cannot be found. Recovery process is aborted. Please contact ASUS Service Center for further assistance"
But....the recovery partition is there, i can see it in diskpart and i can also see it in Disk Management.
My disk Management currently sits as:
172MB unallocated (no idea why)
600MB Healthy (Recovery Partition)
128MB unallocated (again no idea why)
100MB Healthy (EFI System Partition)
(C 444.66GB Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Partition Primary)
20.00GB Healthy (Recovery Partition)
Diskpart reads
Partition 1 Reserved 128MB 1024KB
Partition 2 Recovery 600MB 301MB
Partition 3 System 100MB 1029MB
Partition 4 Primary 444GB 1129MB
Partition 5 Recovery 20GB 445GB

I have Secure Boot disabled and CSM enabled in the bios so i could install w7 in the first place.
Laptop didnt come with a COA sticker so i have no product key, guessing its a key stored in the BIOS.
If it is could i just install a copy of Windows 8 and let it pull the key from the bios?
Can anybody help me get the recovery partition working again please so i can restore this back to factory w8.
I dont have any physical media recovery disks and didnt create any either.
Thankyou
