    Can't uninstall Windows 8. Help?

Hey everyone, this is my first post as you can tell. I'm in some dire need of help. (Don't know if this belongs here or not, let me know please.)
So far I love Win 8, but I'm planning on uninstalling it for now and purchasing a retail copy when it is released.

Problem is, I know how to uninstall it correctly, but I don't seem to have the option to remove it from any of my partitions. (I installed it as a dual boot between Win 7 and 8.)

I'll show you what I mean:

This is my Win 8 computer management window. D is Win 7, E is my extra drive, and C is of course Win 8.

And this is Win 7. For some reason, the only partitions shown here are C (which is Win 7 in this case) and E which is my extra drive.

Does anyone know why the Win 8 partition doesn't show up in Win 7? I can't seem to find any other way to uninstall it other than doing it from computer management...
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum IGC. I'm afraid your in a bit of a pickle. It has been my experience that if Windows 7 and the boot manager are not on C:\ before installing Windows 8 on another partition, you may have to start fresh. Someone here may know a way to manipulate the bootrec and change the letter assignment of the partitions, but I personally have had no luck with that route...

    Windows 7 + 8 Dual Boot

Oh man, exactly what I was trying to avoid...
Thanks for your input, hopefully someone else can give me a solution before I start fresh.

I'm just wondering how this could have happened in the first place?
I installed the dual boot exactly like how several guides said to. I don't understand...

Did you install Windows 8 as a VHD? - if so it is a large 35 GB file called (probably) win8.VHD somewhere on your Windows 7 Hard drives C or E. Delete it and Windows 8 is gone, but you may have to use a BCD editor like EasyBCD to remove the boot entry.

Now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure I did. Thanks for the info.
Will I be able to put back the unallocated space to my main drive afterwards?

It's not unallocated - it is just file space on your C or E drive.
