I have a dell XPS 8300 and run Windows 10 64 bit.
I am here because Win 8 forum seems to be a good link from 7 to 10.
I wanted to ask for help with an idea.
I have the OS discs for all OS's.7-10 and drivers for 7.
I was thinking of installing 7 from disc then updating drivers etc at the Dell site.
With any OS but 7, Dell will not recognize my PC because the desktop came with 7.
I had upgraded from 7 to 8 to 8.1 then to 10.
If I could upgrade all my settings like BIOS, network, audio etc I would have a stronger machine as my drivers are now old.
*Should I use the 7 disc first then go to Dell to upgrade all or just go to Dell after installation as 7 requires driver installation unlike the later OS's.
*After 7 is set should I use my ISO disc to install 8 then 8.1 or would that not be as good as upgrading online to keep these new drivers.
*I forgot exactly how to upgrade to 8 then 8.1 it's been so long, so could you briefly coach me.
I them could migrate to 10 online and be better off than I am now. Again I should do this online to keep the new drivers and not use a disc, correct?
I think avoiding discs would keep the new drivers but am not sure. I have images of 10 now and could make an image of each OS on the way up then consider the disc no good.
I know it is asking a lot but I would appreciate some help and thank you.
