What version 8.1 do I need?

I just replaced hard drive on a Toshiba Satellite P75-A7100 laptop. My next step is to follow option 1 on the tutorial:

Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 ISO - Download or Create

In step 3 you have to choose what version. I am not sure how to tell what version 8.1 I need. This laptop came with 8.1.

Well, isn't there a sticker somewhere, like on the bottom, that tells what OS was put on the PC at the factory?

Or, can you look up the make and model of the laptop on the Manufacturers' Website, and see what OS it comes with. ??

Personally I'd just go with Windows 8.1, Pro, and also my preference would be x86 (32 bit). 32 bit is backward compatible, with the older 16 bit (DOS) programs, which I still use. The 64 bit version, is NOT.

    Good Luck,

The sticker is just a small square one with 8 on it. The laptop came with 8.1 per manufacture but they did not elaborate as to what version. So I took a leap of faith and installed simply 8.1 and it activated. When I saw all the choices to choose from, which I was not familiar with, I started questioning. All is good now. Doing 171 updates as I type this. This was my first 8.1 machine that I needed to install OS after hard drive replacement. Sad thing is the old drive cannot be accessed to retrieve docs and pics and he has pics from his deployment in Afghanistan as well as pics of wife when they first met.

Sometimes we just have to take a stab at it and see what happens!
In your case, you got it right on the first try. Congratulations!

Windows 8.1 pro, is my own personal favorite OS.
I ran every Beta upgrade of Windows 10, from Jan 2015 to its full release, and I can only say, "I didn't like it well enough to make it my everyday OS". But to make 8.1 Pro totally user friendly I must install the "Classic Shell" and set it up to make Windows 8.1 look and act more like Windows 7. Win-8.1 is actually a much better OS than Win-7, but the GUI on '7' was more user friendly.
So the combination of Windows 8.1 with the Windows 7 look, including the old familiar 'Programs Menu', makes for a very user friendly OS.

One thing I always try to do, after installing any new OS, is to get it set up the way I want it, and then make a back up copy of the C: partition and save that backup to a separate HD, either internal or external.

Cheers Mate! (good luck with your install and setup)
