My alumni asked if he could reinstall Vista beause he couldn't get used to Win 8. He wants his Vista back.
It is not dual boot. His son did a clean install of Win 8 over Vista. His son is now overseas.

Does he have to use the Vista DVD to do a clean install ?
What if he does not have the dvd ( his Vista is a OEM version ) ? Can he ask his computer manufacturer for a set of Recovery disks and do a restore to factory state ?

Thank you.

If he doesn't have a DVD, he can use the official DigitalRiver disks: Dell Community (I think, wait for confirmation from someone with a higher forum rating than me)

I'd recommend the burn to ISO instructions, because I'm not 100% sure if the standard installer will work when downgrading to Vista.

But first: Does he still have his OEM Key? it should be on a sticker on the computer. And check of it's for 32-bit or 64-bit.

I haven't used recovery disks in years, but I believe that they don't have the full function of regular Windows installation disks.

At worst, they'd re-install all of the junk that PC makers include with their OS installs.
