Can't restore, required drive partition is missing

Last night I decided to try doing a refresh as my laptop was really slow, after getting to about 75% through it. It said it was unable to do the refresh, so I turned it off and went to bed. This morning when I turned it on it only shows a black screen and a black screen with the Asus logo (it changes every few seconds) so I tried to do a complete factory restore and it is saying there is a required drive partition missing, what can I do?

Thanks, I've just downloaded it it on to a usb, how do I use it? I've put the usb in the laptop but not sure what to do next, sorry I'm not the best with computers.

Just figured it out and it has worked, thank you so much. This morning I was worried I might have to buy a new laptop so I really appreciate your help.

...and please get two external usb HDs, Macrium Reflect free, and do bi-weekly or at least bi-monthly backups of your OS and data partitions.

You could try an automatic repair by booting from the Windows 8 installation DVD or installation USB stick. You can also try a system restore from the same repair disk. If this fails you will have to reinstall or recover from backup.

In addition to using Macrium Reflect for backup which I strongly recommend, you can also create a custom refresh image (RECIMG is a good app to use). You can then restore Windows without having to reinstall everything.

When your system is restored, run reagentc /info from an admin command prompt to see how your recovery options are configured. Use reagentc /enable if the Windows Recovery Environment (Win RE) is not set. Check you have the Reset & Refresh options by selecting Restart whilst holding down the Shift key which will show the troubleshooting screen.

sata drivers partition where I will install windows... ???

During the Installation Process - there is/was the option to load drivers
(for the life of me I do not remember the screen or if it even still exists)

But I assume you a saying the installation is not seeing your HDD ??

But the process was to select Load driver and point to the sata driver (Intel storage manager) - windows would preload the driver then install..
