Installing Windows 8 onto a laptop from USB on a clean hard drive

Hey,

I had Windows 8 Developer Preview on my laptop, but then I tried upgrading it to the consumer preview and it wouldn't work, so I downloaded the ISO onto the USB stick and got the Windows 7 installation exe for the stick. I tried installing onto the laptop, but it screwed up and so i ended up wiping my harddrive. Now, when I run the setup, everything is fine until it needs to restart. When I do, it just goes back to the first installation screen as though I hadn't started installation. Help?

Thanks,

Donald

Well, you know how it 'restarts several times during installation?' When it restarts, it doesn't continue the installation. I'm not quite sure I want to dedicate my stick to windows 8, so I don't want to do the first link provided. It's not an error in and of itself, it just doesn't pick up the installation, so I'm forever starting the installation for it to never finish.

Just like MadHorseman has said, you need to pull (unplug) your USB Installation stick on second boot (restart). Unless you choose boot from USB by menu option, not from BIOS setup changes.
