Hello guys!

I have Asus N550JK notebook. It came with Windows 8.1 pre-installed. Later I have upgraded Windows 10. After that, I have repartitioned the harddrive and also installed the Linux. The repartitioning was done by GParted. No harm was made to Recovery partition. Only the data partition was shrinked a little.

Today, I wanted to Reset Windows 10, since it became very slow. During the reset process, something went wrong, and my installation was broken.

Using F9 I got into recovery menu. But I cannot apply recovery. During the recovery process, an installation media was requested. As far as I know, that shouldn't happen. The setup should automatically recover windows 8.1.

So what can I do? How do I restore???

Win 10 Reset is a lot like a Clean install, nothing is supposed to be retained. Therefore, do a Clean Install of Windows 10.

Thanks for your reply.
How can I know which Windows 10 ISO file to install? I have upgraded from Windows 8.1 OEM version to Windows 10.

Enter winvir in a Run box (Windows key + R). The output will tell you what version you had.

Mine for instance looks like this:

As you can see it says Windows 10 Home.

You can use Option One here: Windows 10 installation USB.
