Hello,

I bought a new SSD to test out win 8. I've installed win 8 RP onto it from a usb and everything worked fine.

Unfortunately after restarting the computer after setup, it boots straight into windows 7 without any dual booting options.

Did I do something wrong?

Try booting win7, open an elevated command prompt.

To do that type cmd in start search box.

When the little black box pops up, rt click and select run as adminstrator.

Type in these commands ( replace d with the windows 8 drive letter as you see it from windows 7 )

bcdboot d:\windows

then press enter

bcdedit /set {emssettings} bootems "Yes"

then press enter

It depends on how you did the install. Did you disconnect the Windows 7 drive while installing Windows 8? If you did Windows 8 didn't know it was there and no dual boot would be setup. If that is the case use your BIOS boot options to boot from the SSD drive instaed of the other drive. Otherwise have a look at this.

Thanks, but I just fixed it by running a BCD repair tool.

Windows 8 is great so far!

FYI : You can set it from System Configuration Utility (msconfig) as well :D
