It want to Upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1

Hi Guys, I have a HP Pavilion and I have a free upgrade. I want to do it right having to do with HOW I'm suppose to save my information that it on computer. Does it walk you the saving of the information or do you Experts have screenshots on how I'm suppose to do it. I may be making it harder than it really is.

I also have a Windows Phone which thing work a lot better when all your devices are the same company's.
