Windows 8.1 pro licence or not?

I have a dilemma which I hope someone can solve.
About a year ago I purchased a 'returned' Sony laptop from a retail supplier.
The laptop had had the disc cleared and a new copy of Windows 8.0 Pro installed but no licence key supplied.
Not happy with the installation and no installation discs or product key, I purchased a full copy of Windows 8.0 Pro complete with Product Key. The package is genuine Miucrosoft and contains two discs, one for 32 bit and the other for 64 bit systems.
I installed Windows 8 as a clean install on the laptop. Entered the Product Key when requested and installation completed satisfactorily. System activated normally.
System then downloaded all updates as expected including the update to Windows 8.1 and system has been fine ever since.
The problem is that although the MS packaging, the discs and the Product Key all indicate a Pro version of Windows, Control Panel/System indicates it is 'only' Windows 8.1 not the Pro version.
Can anyone throw some light on what has gone wrong, if anything, and how do I get WIndows 8.1 up to Pro level?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Run Showkey (see below) - post the screen (NB click the key(s) to hide it)

You may just need to change the key to your Pro key but lets see what's installed first.

Thank you for your response.
Have used Showkey and produced two txt files, one showing original input key and second showing key as it now is.
Will send them to you as attachments but unsure how to hide the keys. You say click the key(s) but which keys?
I am probably being a bit thick here sorry.

By click the keys he means when you run ShowkeyPlus. When the info window is displayed click on each of the displayed keys and all except the last set will be changed to ***** (asterisks).

Once you have that, just capture the image and post it here: See here: Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Eight Forums
