Can I go Back to Windows 7 After Booting From USB?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just want to be sure. When I boot Windows 8 Release Preview from a flash drive, will that replace Windows 7 on my hard drive, or can I go back to Windows 7 after I boot from the flash drive? Thanks for the help!

    It depends what you mean.

Are you booting a flash drive that contains win8 installation media, or are you booting a flash that contains an already installed version of win8 (the so called windows to go ).

If it is the latter - then it should not have any bad effects on your current win7 installation.

I downloaded the .iso file from Windows 8 Release Preview ISO formats and copied it to my flash drive using the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool

if you boot in the .iso it will overwrite your c drive OS installation and leave you a windowsold folder. Mount the .iso as a virtual cd and use setup.exe in the Sources folder, this allows for a custom installation to the partition of your choice, this way you have a dual boot choice of running Windows 7 or Windows 8.
