    Update to windows 10

Hello, I have a computer with a 500 GB SSD with nothing on it. I also have a copy of Windows 8.1 that i bought months ago. I was going to install win 8.1 as my main operating system but I fell ill right after I bought it.

Now, I would like to install it and upgrade to Windows 10. I am assuming that all i have to do after installing Win 8.1, is to open an email account and download windows 10, then start downloading my apps. Is this correct?

    Thank you,

It's not even necessary to create a MS Account if you don't wish to. Once you get Win 8.1 installed on the ssd, you can then download the MS MediaCreationTool and use it to install Win 10.

When you install Win 8.1, it will want you to use an MS Account but it's not necessary. I have Win 8 and Win 10 machines running without using my MS Account.
