Recovery 'Copy FROM Partition' Question

Hi :)

I have a Lenovo laptop which came with 8.1 and a ton of bloatware. About to format it to do a clean install.

In Recovery (when I go to create a recovery disc) it shows the option:

Copy the recovery partition from the PC to the recovery drive.

When this option is checked, it asks for a 16 GB disk. I'm guessing that with this option, its copying from the recovery partition, and will copy bloatware apps also.

When I uncheck it, it asks for a 512 MB disk. What is this exactly? Is it creating Recovery disk only of bare minimum OS? Or copying CURRENT apps also? Could not find details of this.

Thanks.

This will show you how to create a bootable recovery (system repair) USB flash drive in Windows 8 to use to boot to the system recovery options that can be used to help recover Windows 8, Windows RT, Windows 8.1, or Windows RT 8.1.

A recovery USB flash drive cannot be used to install Windows 8 unless this is an OEM PC that came with Windows 8 preinstalled, and you checked the Copy contents from the recovery partition to the recovery drive box at step 5 below.

thanks. i copied it while checking the option and it worked.

but still curious (may be I missed something in that tutorial) - suppose I UNCHECK that option to copy contents from recovery partition, what sort of backup does it create? only OS without anything else?
