Hello, I am trying to upgrade from Windows 8.1 (64 bit) to Windows 10 (64 bit) however when I do the installation it seems to always turn my screen black after it's finished installing the updates and drivers, it just hangs there, I've waited up to 30 minutes and still.. nothing, so I force shut it down and boot it back up, when I boot it back up it goes to my BIOS then a black screen then turns off, this repeats about 3-4 times and then when it can't finish the installation, then it automatically reverts me back to my previous Windows (8.1) - does ANYBODY know what I can do to actually finish installation, a lot of people have had no problems and it seems like i'm the only one - bare in mind, I want to keep my files and folders so I don't really want to do a clean install, any suggestions will be appreciated

I used this to get my install: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Did you remove all Anti-Virus programs before trying the upgrade ? Did you make a USB or DVD from Media Creation tool ? Did you reserve your Windows 10 before this and receive any info on it of anything being incompatible and why did you not try to use downloaded files for upgrade if received ?

Did you remove all Anti-Virus programs before trying the upgrade ?
The only anti virus I have is Windows Defender.
Did you make a USB or DVD from Media Creation tool ?
No, I launched it from download and then it restarted my pc and went straight to installation, the same way 8.1 did.
Did you reserve your Windows 10 before this and receive any info on it of anything being incompatible and why did you not try to use downloaded files for upgrade if received ?
I did reserve but I got no e-mail even though I 'signed' up for it 24 July, when I go to the windows logo in notification area it just keeps saying "notify me when ready" But i've already clicked that like twice prior to this, atleats two or three weeks.

I have went on the Win10 forums and signed up and cannot post a thread or do anything, there isnt even a PM feature to notify the admins.

Yes, if files downloaded and were ready, you would of received a Popup saying you are ready to upgrade, choices to do then or reschedule. On Windows 8.1 do you have under the view tab in Folder options is set to " show hidden files and folders" ? Wanted to know if files downloaded, be WindowsBT folder on C: main drive. There is tutorials on Windows 10. Seen issues like this on Windows 10 forums, can not directly contact Admin on issues as have to post a thread. Hard to say yet what is causing this, i would of tried making a USB bootable drive or DVD bootable disc from that download, rather then run it from the setup.exe.

I actually deleted my Windows BT folder as it was empty at the time and I de-cluttered my PC, is there ANY way of getting this back or if I can just download it from somewhere?

I am not sure will redownload, you do still get the Icon in notification area ? Thing is, if there is an issues on system causing this, we do not know what might be yet, basically taking about some kind of incompatibility from hardware or even software.
