[Win10] Installation question

Hello, I signed up to the win10 forums but I couldn't post a question anyways..

I am wondering if I will need a FLASHDRIVE to be able to install Win10 from Win 8.1,
also if I do install it, will I be able to keep all of my files i.e music, videos, pictures etc..

If this is for the free Windows 10 offer, then you'll need to upgrade to Windows 10 from within your activated Windows 8.1 to register the Windows 10 activation on Microsoft activation servers for your PC. You won't lose anything in your user folders.
