    Block Windows 10 Upgrade on Win8.x & Win7 PC's

    Hi,

For a variety of reasons, such as, no WMC in Win10, I want to block or prevent Windows Update from offering to upgrade all of my PC's; at least in the short term, to Win10.

    I have 3 desktop PC's running Win8.1 Pro 64bit, 1 running Win7 Ultimate & a Surface Pro 3 running Win8.1 Pro 64bit.

Is there a registry option or whatever that I can apply to prevent Win10 from being installed?

I have searched here & elsewhere & I've found plenty about stopping the Win10 Notification. I've uninstalled the relevant KB's for this several weeks ago.

However, so far I haven't found a option to stop WU from offering Win10 itself.

    TIA
    BazzaG...

    Hello BazzaG,

Windows 10 will not automatically be installed. You must select to do so when notified it's available if wanted.

If its any help, I applied the registry fix in Brinks tutorial (option 3 in the first post here) which both removed the GWX icon and stopped any further messages on Windows Update regarding W10. That was a week or two back. I'm fully patched and up to date with no updates removed or hidden.

Thanks Brink & Mooly ... it seems that the GWX app is more than simply a "notification" pgm.

I had previously uninstalled KB3035583 & then MS re-released it so I have it hidden.

I have downloaded the Disable_Get_Windows_10.reg file & will apply it to all my PC's.

    Thanks Muchly
