Windows 8.1 Activation doesn't do anything

Hello,

I bought a second hand pc a few months back. I was told that the windows installation was genuine, but windows now keeps telling me to activate it. When I hit the 'Activate' button it just loads for about a minute, then does nothing.

It says its valid until the 29th of this month.

What should I do? These reminders are getting really annoying.

What version of windows do you have home or pro ?

Specs says Pro.

Sounds like it may be activating VIA KMS. If so, and it can't connect to the original KMS server it was originally activated on, it will fail. From a command prompt type in the following information for detailed activation status information: slmgr.vbs /dlv If it is using KMS you are SOL and will have to buy a new license. There is a Pro VL (Volume License) edition corporations use.
