[SOLVED] Wintel P001, won't boot absolutely anything

Hey guys,

I have recently bought a Wintel Box. The device came with android and windows both installed (android x64 and windows 8.1 with bing 32bit). I did not like any of the installed versions so I thought I should wipe the drive and try to install windows 7. I did a cmd disk part wipe command through uefi windows restore cmd option and now the drive is completely empty. However, the computer would not boot absolutely anything. I have a few usb drives which have windows installed through rufus with MBR for uefi and hirens boot but neither seem to work. I boot from the bios menu as it recognises the USB but when i click on boot form usb the screen flashes and it comes back to the BIOS menu. I have tested the usb drives and they work on other computers. This one would not boot anything. The screen would flash for a second and it would go back to bios menu. Could you guys help me? Any ideas?

Here's how it looks like and its specifications.

That PC uses x86 uefi software
Unless you have the option to enable "legacy/csm support" in the bios settings

I believe that you are referring to your boot menu - not your Bios settings.. the bios settings will have several tabs or screens

Install Windows 7 32-bit. If the installation is unsuccessful, install Windows 8/10 32-bit.

I think that you need a 32-bit UEFI bootloader. I do not have a Windows 7/8 32-bit installation media.

Wintel W8 Review

...the system is switching between the 32-bit UEFI firmware (for Windows) and 64-bit UEFI firmware (for Android).

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824898.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

While the PC is in UEFI mode, the Windows PE version must match the PC architecture. A PC in 64-bit UEFI firmware mode can only boot 64-bit versions of Windows PE. A PC in 32-bit UEFI firmware mode can only boot 32-bit versions of Windows PE. On PCs that support both UEFI mode and legacy BIOS mode, you may be able to run 32-bit Windows PE on a 64-bit PC by changing BIOS menu settings from “UEFI mode” to “BIOS mode”, assuming the manufacturer supports legacy BIOS mode.

A PC in 64-bit UEFI firmware mode. Quote from this post:

- In UEFI Boot Mode, the UEFI firmware scan your computer's hard disks for existence of the EFI System partition, then run \efi\boot\bootx64.efi file in the EFI System partition.

- If you are booting from a Windows 7/8 64-bit USB flash drive (FAT32 file system) in UEFI Boot Mode, then UEFI firmware run \efi\boot\bootx64.efi file. Note: This file does not exist by default in the Windows 7 installation media, so you need to create this file by using the Rufus program, if you want UEFI Boot Mode compatible Windows 7 64-bit USB flash drive.

- If you are booting from a Windows 7/8 64-bit DVD in UEFI Boot Mode, then UEFI firmware run \efi\microsoft\boot\cdboot.efi file.

How to create 32-bit UEFI firmware compatible Windows 8 32-bit USB flash drive.

Format your USB flash drive. Note: You need to choose the FAT32 file system (see screenshot below).

When formatting is complete.
- In Windows 8, mount the Windows 8 32-bit ISO image file by right-clicking the ISO image file and choosing Mount. If you don’t see Mount command from the context menu, go to Open with -> Windows Explorer instead.
- Select everything in the mounted ISO image file, and copy them into the USB flash drive you prepared earlier.

edit:

I downloaded the 32-bit installation media.

Install a UEFI supported x86 OS

Not sure if Windows 7 x86 is uefi compatible - Windows 8/8.1 x86 is...
PC does not have enough RAM for x64 OS

Hey guys. Sorry for posting this late I've just been busy a lot recently and finally got time to read your suggestions. I am glad to say that I've just managed to get my PC to work. Basically what i did was, I downloaded WIN8.1 32Bit and burned it through Rufus with MBR UEFI option only (FAT32). Then I copied all files from efi/microsoft/boot to efi/boot using 7-zip. Then I set my BIOS to secure boot disabled and usb support enabled and then wohooo it worked!. Thank you all so much for your help!
