How to Upgrade Windows from 32 Bit to 64 Bit

When I downloaded Windows 8 Pro a few years ago my PC only had 1GB of RAM, so it installed the 32 Bit version. I have since added another GB of RAM. When Windows 10 is released, will I be able to download and install the 64 Bit version, or am I stuck with the 32 Bit version on this PC?

There is no upgrade path to go from 32 to 64 bit. Have to be 64 bit to upgrade to any 64 bit system. So yes, unless you first switch over to a 64 bit install you are stuck with 32 bit.

Thanks for the quick response. I was really wondering if my 32 Bit Win 8 Product Key is going to work if I install the 64 Bit version of Win 10.

Your key should work for a 64 bit install also.

You're welcome! If you do switch over to 64 bit you may have to call in to activate it as the system will still show the 32 bit as being active.

Why switch with only 2GB of memory?

Was wondering why so stingy with the RAM. Of course as usual, some system specs would help a lot.
