Solved 2nd Windows 8.1 cannot be installed

Hey guys, i got a little problem here. So i wanted to install a 2nd Windows 8.1 OS on a new partition of my SSD wich i made, and it has 40GB to use for it wich is more than enough (all programs and games are on the 3TB HDD). Anyways, all drives on my system are in GPT, wich i had to format them to when i first installed Windows 8.1 because of my new Motherboard. But now the problem is, that when i put in the Windows 8.1 DVD in to install a 2nd version of it, and i click in the installation menu the partition i prepared for it, it says "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The disk is of the GPT format". So how do i solve this? First it moaned about it not being GPT, now it is and it still is just moaning about it. What can i do to fix this? I want a 2nd Windows 8.1 because of things like Shadowplay and such not working correct, and instead of reinstalling Windows 8.1 again (i think all the problems with that come from all the modifications i do to the Audio Driver and using the Beta Oculus Rift driver), i just install a 2nd copy wich is much easier to fix such stuff, like it will be my dedicated Gaming OS. So again, what is wrong here? Thanks in advance :)

Boot from the Windows installation media in UEFI Boot Mode, so you can use GPT (GUID Partition Table).

That is because Windows can only be installed to MBR disk in Legacy BIOS Boot Mode, but you plan to install Windows on a GPT disk.

- Boot from the Windows installation media in UEFI Boot Mode, so you can use GPT (GUID Partition Table).
- But if you want to use MBR (Master Boot Record) partition table, then delete all partitions on the disk.

That is because Windows can only be installed to GPT disk in UEFI Boot Mode, but you plan to install Windows on an MBR disk.

How do you select UEFI Boot Mode or Legacy BIOS Boot Mode.

Note: The UEFI firmware settings determines what type of boot devices are available in the boot menu: UEFI, Legacy BIOS (aka CSM), or both types of boot devices.

Note: You do not need to change the boot order of drives in your UEFI firmware settings.
- Connect your Windows 7/8 USB flash drive or insert your Windows 7/8 DVD.
- Restart the computer.
- Press the correct key to enter the boot menu (Esc, F8, F9, F10, F11, F12).
- Select your USB/DVD from the boot menu.

EXAMPLE: Windows 8 64-bit USB flash drive in the Asus motherboard boot menu (see screenshot below).

You may notice a bootable USB flash drive showing twice in the boot menu, one marked UEFI and one not marked UEFI.

Ye i do not have that UEFI option on my DVD drive when i boot it, else i woudnt ask because i know the solution to this if it was like this. I have an ASRock Extreme4 Z97 Motherboard. Any option i have to enable/disable?

CSM (Compatibility Support Module)

Enable to launch the Compatibility Support Module. Please do not disable unless you’re running a WHCK test. If you are using Windows 8.1/8 64-bit and all of your devices support UEFI, you may also disable CSM for faster boot speed.

Ok problem. I just checked the BIOS and the setting ARE already on what you said they should be. CSM is enabled, all are set to Legacy Only and Secure Boot is off. Do i have to set the Legacy Only to UEFI only in the CSM? And if so, wich one?

Oh ok so disable CSM, sorry :p

EDIT: Did NOT fix it, as i disabled CSM EVERYTHING disappeared. I could still boot windows with the "Windows Boot Manager" but there was NO DVD drive or anything there. What now?

EDIT: Did NOT fix it, as i disabled CSM EVERYTHING disappeared. I could still boot windows with the "Windows Boot Manager" but there was NO DVD drive or anything there. What now?

Also btw my SATA mode is set on AHCI, because that is what comes up infront of EVERY drive, like DVD ROM or the SSD, in the Boot Menu where i can pick between those, there is AHCI infront of all of them.

Point of using DVD is because i do not have a USB at that size for the moment. And you are repeating yourself btw. The thing is that i disabled CSM, didnt fix it. I got AHCI configured. Secure Boot is also disabled. Still no way to get it to work. I also dont have a USB drive to use right now. So?

EDIT: I might have narrowed it down to be because of ASMedia SATA Controllers, i will try to disable them because there is a A0 on the SATA ports and not a normal 0 or 1, and people have reported issues with them. But if you still mind helping that would be nice.

EDIT 2: Did not fix it either, im out of ideas. I do not have a USB at that size, and its not my fault the Motherboard wont accept the UEFI DVD. As i said, controllers are on AHCI, CSM was disabled wich did not work either, so i dont know what do do anymore.

Could you explain how you started the installation?

Where did you get the disk or ISO you burned to disk and how was it burned?

Do you have a UEFI bootable DVD?

Oh ok i might try that instead, i used IMGBurn to burn the ISO i got from an Original Windows 8.1 backup DVD.

The more you know.... It was the DVD medium ITSELF that couldnt boot UEFI, used the tool you said i should and it worked, awesome, thank you :)
