How to Install purchased Windows 8.1 over 8.1 Pro Preview

I'm running an unvalidated copy of Windows 8.1 Pro Preview

1) If I purchase Windows 8.1 will it install over the 8.1 Pro Preview
or
2) Can I install Windows 7 over the 8.1 Pro Preview

I installed the 8.1 Pro Preview over Windows 7 from an ISO disk , thinking it was the full version I had purchased by download from Microsoft - Thank you for your help, IM

You should be able to just change the product key using the key from the Pro version you purchased. No reinstall should be required.Right click on This PC then select Change product key at lower left.

Thank you Ztruker! I no longer have the purchased download or it's keycode. I actually found the keycode just now that belongs to the pro Preview, doesn't work? "Windows can't activate right now. Try....later.....

I don't mind paying and downloading 8.1 from Microsoft. Do you think it would install over the preview? I'm not getting a Windows 10 invitation on this PC.

Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help Should work with your pro key if its an authentic key.

So it won't work with a legit downloaded ISO either.

I don't believe 8.1 will install over Pro Preview. You will have to save your data, do a clean install t hen restore your data.it

You could contact Microsoft and see if they can help replace the Windows 7 download and key you purchased before. Save you $199.
