Solved Windows fresh install does not detect SSD/Help

Hi, I replaced the factory installed slow 5400rpm HDD in a friend's HP laptop with this SSD (120Gb version) and tried to fresh install Windows 8.1x64. After choosing Language and custom install the physical drive screen (that shows where to install Windows) is empty and the screen says that WIndows installation could not find any drive to install to. It provides the option to Load a driver for the drive, but I assume that an SSD requires no driver. I went to BIOS and there's no option to set SATA (to AHCI or any other option). Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks

Ok, I have solved the issue, I found out that if "OS Boot Manager" is not placed 1st in the UEFI boot options in BIOS then the laptop will not recognize the SSD. Currently installing Windows successfully.

Glad you got it sorted mate. When I installed to my SSD last thursday it detected my drive but I also had to remove my HDD or it would not install to the SSD.

Thanks dwarfer, yes, for a while I was freaking out that the brand new SSD might not be compatible and on top of it, having to reinstall the HDD which is a pain in the neck for this laptop.
