Have you tried hitting the Escape Key in rapid succession during startup with your Recovery Disk in place? That's the way my HP Laptop works with my Macrium Recovery Disk in place.

The paid version of Macrium will allow to create a Boot menu that lets you select your Boot options every time you start up.

Try turning Windows fast startup off, Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 8 and then try again. Fast Startup puts the PC in a hybrid sleep mode instead of a full shut down. This can make it hard to access the BIOS. The other way to get access is this, UEFI Firmware Settings - Boot to from inside Windows 8

They always seem to pick a different key from manufacturer to manufacturer. Or even model to model. I have a couple of ASUS motherboards and an ASUS laptop. The laptop uses a different key to access the BIOS than the desktops do.

I got the cd to boost but it came back with saying it would not boot with the files that were on the disk.
So I don't know what to do now,,,I followed the instructions properly as it said right I think and I don't know where to go from here .
    Thanks for your help.

You may have to turn Secure Boot off in the BIOS to boot from that disk.

Try turning off Secure Boot in BIOS.

    1) Is this the free or paid for version of Macrium Reflect.
    2) Is this the WinPE Boot disc or the Linux based boot disc.
    3) Also does the PC/laptop use a UEFI BIOS and if so is there a CSM (legacy BIOS) option and a Secure Boot on/off option.

Thanks all for the replies,,,,,,first of all Alphanumeric,, I booted up from within windows so it must have uefi,, thanks for that, also I could not see the Secure Boot to turn off in the bios.
Thanks for the HP info Popeye, I will print it out for reference.
And Helmut It is the free version I am using and almost sure its the Winpe based boot disk and also I did not notice a CSM option.
What heading do secure boot and CSM come under please?.
    Thanks
