On my ASUS laptop Secure Boot is listed under Security and Lunch CSM is under Boot options.

Well guys,,I have got into the bios but I see no mention anywhere about EUFI so does that mean I have not got a EUFI chip and cant have a recovery disk??. I have made 3 now and non work.
If so well I think I will have to have another app than Macrium, shame as I found it easy to use.

I would think it should be easier if it isn't UEFI. If you read this you should see why we thought it was secure boot that blocking you from booting to your media. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/.../hh824987.aspx

When you boot up Windows do you see a Windows logo or the manufacturer logo? With UEFI you should see the Dell, HP, Acer or ASUS etc logo.

If you see an HP logo with the circle of balls under it on boot up its booting in UEFI mode. Also, if you can do this, UEFI Firmware Settings - Boot to from inside Windows 8 its UEFI.

I don't know? BIOS menus vary from PC brand to PC brand. Sometimes even model to model. You may have to go through each and every menu option till you find it. I can't help you with Macrium, I have never used that program.

Creating a Recovery Disk with Macrium is pretty straightforward, I have both the paid and free versions on different PC's. Did you make your Recovery Disk exactly according to directions? All important parameters are already selected by default unless you changed the selections in the process. If you try to boot from your Recovery Disk you need to do it from startup not from within windows.

Insert your Recovery Disk, Power unit down, Power up and hit ESC key in rapid succession, this should stop the startup cycle and give you a short menu on a black screen or it might say press any key to boot from disk. Do this and report back what you see. On my HP laptop, Secure boot is enabled but it will still allow the user to boot from a rescue disk without disabling secure boot. My HP desktop is totally different and you cannot boot from any other source without disabling secure boot.
