Solved Can't change boot order

I have a sager laptop that I bought and can't change the boot order. I get into the bios and windows boot manager is option 1 but when I click on it I seem to only get an option to disable or change order with UEFI IP4 or 6 which are options 2 and 3. I'm trying to boot from an extenal dvd drive. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

Are you trying to do a one time change-meaning you do not want to permanently change the boot order, just for that one action(like booting to install an OS or use a live disk)? most PCs et you do it when you press the power button start spamming(repeatedly pressing) the Escape key, then the boot order menu will pop up, then choose the disk you want.

Yes. The escape key didn't work.

I only know the 2 BIOS systems that I have on my PCs... ahhh maybe this can help? You're being offered to change the Ethernet controller(net boot) and not boot disk it looks like.

Ok. i figured it out. i had to disable uefi support on the boot screen which i had done before but then I had to go to the exit screen and click windows boot manager. It then gave me an option to save and reboot which gave me the F7 boot option. It still seems like one problem after another though. After getting that sorted out i still couldn't boot from my dvd drive. it would just go to a blinking cursor. My dvd drive was connected using esata. i removed that and tried using a regular usb cable which worked. I wanted to boot from a secure erase cd created with samsung magician but then the text displayed all garbled. After figuring that out i'm now stuck. The erase utility says the drive is in a frozen state and that I need to remove the sata power cable without switching the computer off. How do I go about this with a laptop is there a way around this? Or should I just go with the quick format when reinstalling the OS?

I have the Samsung 840pro. With an SSD all you have to do is the quick format, and then when your OS is installed TRIM(optimize) and all previous data is gone because TRIM sets all unused (from system) block to 1 which is the erase state for NAND cells.
