Solved 8.0 to 8.1 pro...bad key

While trying to do a clean install from 8.1 pro from dvd drive. I found out my orginal 8.0 dvd product key would not work. I have the iso files on my ssd somewhere.Just can't get into win 8.1 because windows will not get past the blue
windows icon.

I am a little confused seems like you say win 8 key won't activate 8.1 pro, then you say yes you can.

Sorry I see what I missed one is 8.1 and is 8.1 Pro...my bad

a Pro version key is needed to activate the Windows Pro version

Short answer, Windows 8.1 Pro will not accept a Windows 8.0 (Core) key. It has to be a Windows 8.0 Pro key. Try installing 8.1 (Core) instead of 8.1 Pro and your key should be good.
