Diskpart, two partitions and bootable USB stick

    Hi

Using the diskpart utility, how do I create a bootable USB stick with two partitions so that it is bootable with computers with the BIOS or UEFI?

Because in these two partitions I would insert the Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.x, how should I do make sure that, during the boot of this USB stick, I can choose which operating system to install?

    Thanks

    Bye

Windows will only recognise 1st partition on USB stick. You could use a program like WindSetupFromUSB though. How To Install Windows 7 And Windows 8/8.1 From Same USB Drive

Not the answer your looking for but it would be a lot easier just to make two separate thumb drives.
I use option two here, UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows to create my bootable thumb drives and they work for UEFI and legacy BIOS. Windows 7 or 8 install files can be copied to these drives. I have no idea how you'd load both. Windows loads the preinstallation environment during the install process, it's different depending on the OS being installed. Google Windows PE.

Are you a testing sort ??

I have just created the bootmgr.zip file - that contains the option to boot 4 different setup boot.wim's

you would have to copy the files and folders contained within the zip file to a formatted Fat32 USB Drive

You will find 4 win* folders - inside each folder is a Readme - of what setup files and folders need to be copied into that Win* folder

    Attachment 59800

I do not have a blank HDD to test this setup method - as I usually run the 4 different setup.exe from within WinPE command line..

This method should allow you to boot directly into each of the 4 different setups..

Basically if you boot UEFI you will have 2 boot menu choices Win7 x64 and Win8.1 x64 >
    a legacy boot will give all 4 choices Win7 x64, x86 and Win8.1 x64, x86
x86 does not support UEFI, except in very rare cases..

What I am not sure of is if it will find and apply the install.wim within the selected boot folder..
    I believe highly it should..

PS.. You can't partition a USB Flash Drive, unless it is an extreme model.. No need to have two partitions anyway..

I bet that drive shows up as a fixed disk instead of removable media. I have a couple of Sandisk thumb drives and they show up as fixed disks. That changes the way Windows treats them.
