Solved Question about Add Features

Hello.

I have a question about the "Add Features to Windows 8.1" feature, formerly Windows Anytime Upgrade. As a student, I can buy a full retail copy of Windows 8.1 Pro for only 60 euros, which is a very good deal. I plan on installing it on a desktop which already has 8.1 Core installed. I do not want to reinstall Windows on it, so I would rather use the Add Features feature. So my question is, does Add Features take retail keys or do I need to use a key specifically made for it?

Hello Speedbird, and welcome to Eight Forums.

If you have a Windows 8 or 8.1 key, then you could use OPTION ONE in the tutorial below to download a Windows 8.1 ISO file that you could use to create installation media with. :)

I would rather not reinstall Windows, as this is a shared computer and I think that they wouldn't be pleased with the fact that their user profiles are deleted. Now, I actually tried putting an 8.1 retail key into the Add Features screen, and it accepted it.
