That's what the link was for - I updated ShowKey to see what the original key/edition is...

Well, I would think (Superfly can correct me) that the current installed key is for Windows w /Bing (Connected)

Being you have two keys showing - my other guess would be

Windows core oem key > add features > windows pro key
    or
windows pro oem key > add features > windows media center

The problem may be the now 5th windows 8 edition > BING edition
As Windows 8 RT is the 4th edition and not available for download

Not sure you can download BING

Yup, you are correct... just weird that there is another key... as that usually only shows up after an upgrade.

(P.S. I have Win 8.1 with Bing OEM ISO but it's unofficial)

How do they do the installs at the factory? Maybe the first key is the one in the factory image, a generic install key, and then they activate with the one in the BIOS?

That's exactly it. That key is automatically applied to hundreds of system and useless for any individual system.

For interest, here is the information which Superly's last iteration of ShowKey revealed.

And, to reiterate what I did. I downloaded Microsoft's Media creation exe, having selected Windows 8.1, wrote the ISO file to a d.v.d., booted from it, entered the OEM key and was told by the system that it wasn't recognised/valid whatever. I tried three times .
The additional information, above, means nothing to me, but it might be interesting to those following this thread.

I wouldn't post the full key. Connected means "With Bing". You need the Windows 8.1 with Bing install media to use that OEM key. Or try the Single language version. The normal Windows 8.1 will not accept the with Bing product code or a Single Language product code..

I tried to remove the first image and replace it with the second. Didn't work.

PM Brink or another moderator and they can remove it for you. You don't want your key blacklisted by Microsoft because others tried to use it.
