Unable to set up dual boot of win 7 and win 8

I have followed the tutorial by Brink but aI cannot shrink the C drive where win 7 is located.

I am trying to set up a dual boot for win 7 and win 8

Using disk management I have tried to shrink the drive where I want to install the Win 8 by 30,000 MB but shrink box is greyed out. I am getting the message that it cannot be done.


I have carried out a lengthy defrag but no change

Keep in mind that you can't not install a 64bit OS with a 32Bit OS Also you can not have a MBR installation with a UEFI installation.
Both Win 7 and Win 8 can be installed either 32 bit or 64 bit and also both can be installed UEFI or MBR

You may have to temporarily turn off system restore, empty the recycle bin, temporarily set the page file to 0, etc. If that doesn't work you'll likely have to what Clintlgm posted. How much free space is on that partition?
