Windows 8 will not find any drivers

You may have some problems converting that disk, as it has five partitions. With basic disks there's a maximum of four primary partitions allowed and unfortunately, conversion from dynamic to basic takes place at the disk level.

Was just reviewing this thread - If you need help, we can delete the System partition so you are only left with 4 of them instead of 5, by doing a few simple things such as adding a driver letter to it, copying the boot files to another location, then setting the machine to boot from there instead by setting active.

When done, the first partition can be combined with the second shown, to make the space they have now both into one partition.

The only freeware I'm aware of is testdisk, However, using any utilities such as this, there's always a chance of loosing all your data, so back up anything you need first. Also, as mentioned above, you'll have to rearrange/consolidate your partitions before you try the convert process. For that, I'd personally look at using one of the free partition managers

In Disk Management, assign the System volume a drive letter of M:

Then copy the bootmgr file from root of M: to C:

Then copy the boot folder from root of M: to C:, and skip over the files it says it can not copy.

Open an elevated (Admin) command prompt to run this command (you can copy/paste with mouse):

    bcdedit /export C:\boot\bcd

When that is successful, go to Disk Management and set C: as the active partition.

Reboot. Check Disk Management to make sure that C: is now also the System volume.

If so, you can format M: then use any utility that can merge volumes/partitions. I recommend Acronis Disk Director but there are many that can do it.

Once this is all done, you can convert the disk to a basic disk and then after, proceed to install Windows 8.

Here seems to be another freeware tool to convert disk types, but I have never used it, so choice to use or not is yours of course. Just giving choice in addition to Calico's seemingly excellent suggestion (I have never tried that either):

Free convert dynamic disk to basic disk without data loss under windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8 and Server 2000/2003/2008 32 bit and 64 bit.

It's great that Easus are providing the facility in their free partition manager, testdisk works well but is a bit of a pain to use, so I'd recommend going with this instead of testdisk. As an aside, Easus will also manage your partition merge...

Unfortunately, I found a problem with that plan. It seems dynamic disks do not have any volumes set as active at all, so you can not change which volume is active.

You might be able to merge the first two volumes on the drive and just reboot, but that's a tough call.

Before attempting to do anything though, as said a few times, definitely backup the drive first.

You might be able to copy the boot folders and files to a USB flash drive in the manner shown, then set bios to temporarily boot from the active USB, instead.

It may be easier to remove the 'Windows Partition', which appears to be empty - is this the partition you were going to use for windows 8? - Once removed. convert the disk. It will be easier to make other changes once there's a basic disk in place...
