    Uninstallation of Windows 8

Well, what can i say, i tried Win 8 for 1 day, and i am very disappointed as most of my critical apps dont work, and my DVD burner cant seem to burn discs anymore, but i have decided to throw in the towel so to speak.

I have my original Win 7 installation disk so i was wondering what the procedures were for removing Win 8 and installing Win 7.

    Thanks,
    Tim

Which apps don't work? Win 8 is practically the same exact OS as Win 7. If something works on 7 it should work on 8, with little exception.

Try the manual method here shown for Vista, to attempt to fix your optical problem: Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Gman, yes in theory i agree with you that Win8 and Win7 should not affect app performance, and since you asked, in the brief time that i have been running Win8, here are some apps thar are not working:

    Nero Kwik Media
BB Desktop S/W (which makes my BB tablet pretty useless)
Intel driver which controls DVD burner

I have nearly 200 programs installed on my system, and if had the time, i would suspect many more would not function properly imho.

You might have better luck with those if you try the next win8 preview - can't recall the name are giving it , should be out soon.

Then you can give it a whirl - you never know - you may be one of the few who actually like it.

It's a TABLET OS. Or so it looks. Seriously, Microsoft, at the very least, change the freaking name. Namit, TabletOS, PotatOS, hell, even GladOS, but now Windows! Why? Simple enough, it has no windows. It's simply a App-based OS, like those you find on your iPhone, just at a larger scale.

Regarding your original question. I would format the disk (e.g. with command prompt from your installation disc) and then install Win7. Those are the commands I usually use:

Disk - Clean and Clean All with Diskpart Command - Windows 7 Forums

    Diskpart
    List disk
Select disk n (where n is the number that was given for your disk in List disk)
    Clean
    Create partition primary
    Format fs=ntfs quick
    Active
    Exit

If you define the 1 partition as active, you will not get the 100MB system partition and the installer will not look for another active partition to place the BCD.

Thanks, I did a clean install with a Windows 7 disk, and all my apps are working now.
