How to prepare a used ssd for migration from a laptop

I have a smaller ssd I removed from my tower when I upgraded to a larger drive. What exactly do I need to do to remove the operating system and all files from the 120 GB ssd and prepare it so I can put the contents from the laptop on the ssd? Just a link with directions would be great! Thanks! :)

Are you going to replace the disk in laptop with it or just to backup files from laptop and/or use it as an external disk ?

Download and install Macrium Reflect(Free)
Create a Win PE recovery CD Create a Windows PE Rescue Environment
Back up your current HDD image on an external Hard drive using Macrium:
Replace the HDD with SSD
you need to change the boot order in BIOS( making DVD drive as your 1st boot option)
Insert the recovery CD and boot with it, now recover the image from your back up(external HDD) to SSD.
