So I was all over this thread

http://www.eightforums.com/installation-setup/39197-unable-use-built-asus-recovery-partition.html

trying to reformat my computer. I tried the different tecniques and for what ever reson, I now can't boot into windows or begin the install of the factory image (window with spinning dots and then says unknown error).

What I have access to:
F9
Bios
windows explore (thanks to SIW2 program)
Image file on USB
cmd prompt

What I don't have is:
Reagent
and also getting this msg "the subsystem needed to support the image type is not present" when I try to get my windows key

I'll be satisfied to reboot into my old windows or to actually return my computer to factory settings.

Any help, as my head has been spinning over this for the last few days
thanks

using from a command prompt -

diskpart
select disk 0
list volume
list partition

need to see what is on your disk.. I assume you tried to apply install.wim from the recovery partition?
if siw2 does not allow you internet or snipping - my tools iso does (link in sig below)

Apologize for not getting back to you sooner, and I appreciate the help.

Here is what your requested.

My install.wim is located in R:\recoveryimage

and as you can see at the bottom of the picture, the reagentc isn't working.

Just did and got this after the window with spinning dots

It\s trying to install windows, but pops up a window "encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed.....etc"

try this from X\system32 >

C:\windows\system32\reagentc /disable

C:\windows\system32\Reagentc /setreimage /path \\?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\partition2\Recovery\WindowsRE

C:\windows\system32\Reagentc /setosimage /path \\?\GLOBALROOT\device\harddisk0\partition7\RecoveryImage /index 1

C:\windows\system32\reagentc /enable

reboot and at spinning logo - plug the power plug - three failed attempts to load windows should trigger recovery..

if laptop pull battery out first - the cycle power with plug

And if all else fails - reinstall windows to C drive - but do not manually delete any partitions
then we can again work on registering the factory recovery

you can create windows 8.1 setup media (link in sig below0

I'mgoing todo what you said and see what happens, but just so you know....From your link I downloaded the windows 8.1 and it didn't finish (ran into an error) tried it twice. Also I tried to get the recovery key using the produkey program, but it said the system was unsuported.

I know my comp is all messed up lol. I'll brb to let you know how it went

I typed
"C:\windows\system32\reagentc /disable"
and got
This command is not supported in supported while in Windows PE

Also when to the system32 folder and tried to run reagent from there and got the same result.

I'm using the command prompt from inside the F9 advanced troubleshooting
