My registries are all messed up and I am unable to use tiles or the tile start menu.

I cannot search for anything using the tile search thing.

Please let me know how I can reset Windows 8.1 to factory settings without using the tiles!

If resetting my OS is not a possibility, how can I completely remove windows 8.1 and re install a new copy?

Usually there is a key you can press during boot up to access the factory recovery option. It depends on who manufactured the PC as to what key it is. The manufacturer should have instructions online and it should be listed in your owners manual.

You can download install media from here, Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help It's listed in this tutorial, http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/18309-windows-8-windows-8-1-iso-download-create.html. Just be sure to download the version that matches what was installed on your PC by the manufacturer. If you do that the install media will use your OEM embedded key automatically.
