DSL filter for fax

I moved and my new room has an analogue phone jack on one wall and the opposite wall has the hi speed cable.
HP said if I got a DSL filter I could regain fax access with my all in one printer.
I have a gateway.

Is this possible without using the analogue phone jack?

Are you using DSL or cable for your internet? If not DSL, then no filter is required.

For the FAX to function, it needs to be connected to the phone line. If you are using DSL connected to the phone line, then a DSL filter should be placed on the FAX line to your all-in-one.

I use high speed internet for my computer and for my all in one.
The only analog phone jack is on the other side of the room that is why I question that a DSL filter will do any good if I don't involve the phone jack.

You stated you have High Speed Cable.. Most likely with a wireless router or Ethernet connection..

If the phone is on the other wall - get a long cable or add a phone jack to that wall..

If you have DSL High Speed on your phone line - get a splitter - one side goes to DSL modem - other side gets DSL filter / fax

You got CABLE phone service??

I have cable on one wall and phone on the other.
I just tried to run a long phone line but discovered my isp has not enabled the phone jacks so have to wait to see what I can do when they are enabled.
Stick with me and I'll be back next Wed when the tech comes.
Are there any good fax services online that are free?
