Im in the process of installing Windows 8.0 Pro and 8.1 Pro on a New build Ive done for my brother so what I have is a copy I won a while back of Windows 8 Pro Full version with legit product key! ,and also Just finally DL Windows Windows 8.1 Pro Full package version from Microsoft build 9600! To test it out Ive done a Fresh install of Windows 8 Pro on a spare PC with no internet connection and did not activate Windows 8 Product key for test reasons! Install went perfectly! No Issues! Then I proceeded to install 8.1 Pro using the upgrade option for saving files and personal settings from Windows 8! The 8.1 Upgrade went perfectly and created its own product key and Product ID! My Question should I activate it using the product key from Windows 8.1 Pro or should I activate it using product key from 8.0 !
Another Question When I install Windows 8 pro on the New build PC should I activate it prior to installing Windows 8.1 Pro and then do the upgrade? Or should I upgrade it to 8.1 and use the product key it generates or change it to the Wondows 8 Pro key and then Activate it? Will this procedure work! ! Im not a tech genuis and also after 2 brain surgeries if diminished my ability to eplain things at times so I hope you can understand my procedure and questions!
If I do install Windows 8 Pro with its key and activate it will it interfere with me using the same key to activate 8.1? Hope you can make sence of my questions!

What I was hinting at is:
A computer with a 32-bit processor cannot have a 64-bit version of an operating system installed. It can only have a 32-bit version of an operating system installed

That's not an issue I have both versions Windows 8.0 Pro and Windows 8.1 Pro both 64 bit! My question is procedure I have legit key for 8.o Pro should I install it and activate it and then upgrade to 8.1 Pro keeping my settings then go through the activation again after 8.1 is installed! On my previous post on a test machine I installed Win 8 with prod key skipped activation then upgraded to 8.1 keeping previous settings and it loaded without asking for a product key instead created its own ! So I guess what Im asking is should I activate after each install and change Win 8.1 product key back to 8.0 product key to finalize

Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help

Download any version and use your windows 8 product key

:ditto: That download will let you install and activate Windows 8.1 with Windows 8.0 or 8.1 keys. No need to install 8.0 and upgrade. Just download and install 8.1 Pro and activate with your 8.0 key or 8.1 key. I'd use the 8.0 key. Then save the 8.1 key for another PC.
Thanks to alphanumeric and all of you for your help !!! You were all helpful in me finally installing and activating Windows 8.1 Pro successfully on my PC! Ive read so may post on several sites that made it seem like their was or is a couple hundred ways to get from point A to B downloading, installing and activating Windows 8 Pro on my PC and then upgrading to Windows 8.1 Pro!! It all got very confusing until I got to this thread and thanks to the comments from you guys all of a sudden it got clear and simple that I installed it still thinking its not going to work cant be that simple changed the product key to my Retail key hit activate and and excuse my language Ill be damn it worked! Up and running! LOL! I guess it all depends on how something as simple as someones wording can make all the difference in the world! PS To be honest to all you here Ive had 2 Brain Surgeries that unfortunately had an effect on my ability to process things so thats on me but I want to say thanks to you guys here helping me see through the maze! Now Ill work on a full system backup make a recovery disk so I wont have to go though setting up everything again like the OS, Drivers personal settings and such! Thanks again Bill B

I suffer from chronic pain and years of taking various pain meds have impacted my thinking process. Even more so when I'm taking them regularly. Even when I'm not taking them I have short term memory issues. To do lists in my pocket are the norm now. If my wife sends me out for errands I have to make a list or I will forget something. I'm only 56. Not really looking forward to my golden years.

I can honestly Feel your Pain! I deal with the pain everyday from the 2 brain surgeries and of course anything you have Brain surgery much less 3 one aneurism the 12 days later a blood clot formed the size of a tennis ball!! No exzaduration the it actually smash down on my brain on the right side because it had no where to go and it was very intimidating to see that image on a Catscan seriously pushed it down about 4inches or more so that had to take and open my brain back up and suck the clot out, took 6 months for it to epand to its original form but the damage was done by then so its affected my cognitive thinking skills in several was thinking forgetfulness everything! Physically as well balance, symptoms of Parkinson desease balance this is been going on for 9 years now and unfortunayly everything started going wrong ! I guess when you F with your brain of couse your body is under its control so its pretty much took my health! Very humbling considering this happened at age 50 now Im 59 andhanging on! There are some days that I just won't go online to any forums. I tend to get short tempered and irritable if I've had high pain levels for an extended period. That's when I may reply to something that I would normally just bite my tongue and ignore. Then I end up having to apologize for something I said out of character. I hate it when that happens.
