Hi Guys,
I'm trying to install both Windows 7 Pro and Windows 8.1 on a solid state drive (1 x SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE500BW 2.5" 500GB SATA III TLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD))
I have tried installing Windows 8 first, Windows 7 first and via usb and DVD boot combinations. If i install Windows 7 first I get the "The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks" blocking me from installing windows 8 into the second partition I created on the solid state drive. (The drive was initially created as GPT but the Windows 7 install must do something to it.)
If I install Windows 8 first and install Windows 7 into the second partition I get the below error with winload.exe on PC restart
File:\Windows\System32\winload.exe
Status:0xc0000428
Info:Windows cant verify the digital signature for this file.
....which prevents me from loading up Windows 7. I can only load up Windows 8.
It appears to be MBR vs GPT issues. Can this SSD support multiboot? Any ideas of a fix? I have also set both operating sustems to default boot but issues persist. Win 7 blocks Win 8 and vice versa.

Thanks

You will need to install both operating systems in UEFI Boot Mode.

Step One:

Quote from this post:

2. How to create UEFI Boot Mode compatible Windows 7/8 64-bit USB flash drive, which is only bootable in UEFI Boot Mode.

Step Two:

Clean install Windows 7 and Windows 8 from USB/DVD.

You need to select to boot from the UEFI type (marked UEFI in the boot menu) if you want to install Windows 8 in UEFI boot mode (see screenshot below).

- You do not need to change the boot order of drives in your computer's UEFI firmware (BIOS).
- Connect your Windows 8 64-bit USB flash drive or insert your Windows 8 64-bit DVD.
- Restart the computer.
- Press F8 to enter the boot menu.
- Select to boot from the "UEFI: USB/DVD device name".

If you can see "UEFI: USB/DVD device name" option in the boot menu, then you don't need to change anything in the UEFI firmware (BIOS).

edit: Note that Secure Boot is not compatible with Windows 7.

After installing Rufus and installing win 7 and 8 as indicated. When I boot up my PC and choose Windows 7 at the multi boot screen I get the screenshot below. Winload.efi 428 error.
Win 8 boots up fine though.
Basically I can only open Win 8 and not Win 7.
Thanks

Try this: Secure Boot > OS Type > Other OS (default: Windows UEFI mode).

edit:

Macrium Support Forum - Recovery Boot Menu prevents Win 7 from booting

After installing the recovery boot menu option on Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit, I can no longer boot. I get this problem:

File: \Windows\system32\winload.efi
Status: 0xc0000428
Info: The digital signature for this file couldn't be verified.

Some Asus UEFI setups (my own is P8Z77V Deluxe) allow for both UEFI and "Legacy" booting to be enabled. In that case, Win7 can normally be booted with the mobo's secure boot feature enabled as well, but without actually using it.

Thanks Guys,
Secure boot was the issue. I switched it over to "Other Os" from "Windows UEFI mode" and it works.
