Unable to reset windows 8 to factory

I have a newer Samsung laptop with windows 8 along with a system recovery cd, but no
matter what I do I am unable to restore it to factory. I am able to perform the reset, but
all of my original settings are still there. I would appreciate any help. I'm pretty sure I
    have some sort of virus.

if that is the case your system is using a customrefresh.wim and not the needed istall.wim

right click > command prompt > run as admin then type

    reagentc /info

post the results by using the snipping tool

Your computer's "reagentc info" is okay.

Do you choose the right option? See the text marked in red.

reply to windows 8 factory reset

I have done it that way several times. I just downloaded "show hidden" and there is a list that shows
several hundred hidden files on my computer. One of the problems when I have reset windows 8 is
that my Internet Explorer settings are still the same. When I was just now looking thru the hidden files
several have to do with internet explorer and soooo many to me are normal type files that should not
be hidden. Any suggestions? It's like my computer has a bad virus that I am unable to remove.

    Thanks for all the help,

p.s. I really think there are issues also with my hard drive partitions. I just ran "list parts"
and there are items that don't look right.

    Everything is alright.

Synchronizing Windows 8.1 settings and data - When you first set up your new Windows 8.1 computer or device, there are a lot of details you have to be aware of. You have to personalize your background, change update settings, change the Homegroup and networking settings, configure devices and also select your time and language settings. Getting everything set up the way you like can take a significant amount of time and there is no way around that. Plus, it's really not that fun to do all of these things every time you buy a new computer or device or when you need to reinstall the operating system.
