identifying the key on win 8 motherboard with showkey

hello, I have offered to try and get windows 8 back on a computer which has a failed hard drive. I have a new hard drive to put in and I have got the win 8.1.iso on a dvd. I think it will want me to put the PID in, which I cannot do. Someone on here pointed me to a little visual basic script called 'showkey', which I have downloaded, but I have no idea how I am to implement it and cannot find any instructions on web - can you help please?

How to clean install Windows 8.1 if you have an OEM computer with UEFI firmware (BIOS) embedded Windows 8/8.1 product key? -> link

Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help

This new Windows 8.1 installation media also accepts Windows 8 product key. Also the UEFI firmware (BIOS) embedded Windows 8 product key is automatically detected.
