Let me start by saying, I goofed. My Surface Pro touchscreen was acting strange. About 10% of the left side of the screen would occasionally freak out it would show about 15-20 touches and swipes in that 10%, from top to bottom) and then the touch screen wouldn't work till I turned the screen off, then back on. I tried to do a refresh, and it told me that there were files missing, but I have a windows 8 disk, and the Surface was upgraded to 8.1, so that wouldn't work. (it kept saying the the media was invalid)
By this time I was frustrated, and began a clean install of windows. The problem that I have is that this copy of windows is in use on my desktop pc, so I can't activate windows.
My question is, what can I do now? Can Microsoft help me get it back to the original cd key using the serial number? I'd like to avoid having to purchase a cd key since I had it before I over wrote it.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Also, if anyone has a resolution to the touchscreen issue, I'd appreciate it!
