Should The Primary (OS) Hard Drive Be Installed On SATA 0?

Hello All,

I have an ASUS N550JK laptop that came with a single hard drive and a CD-ROM drive. I purchased a hard drive caddy so that I could install a second hard drive (an HGST Travelstar 7200 rpm). I also replaced the stock hard drive with a Samsung 830 solid state drive. Here is a picture of how I configured my laptop:

After I installed the 2nd HDD and replaced the original with the SSD I did a fresh installation of Windows 8.1 Pro. I just checked the disk configuration using the Windows Disk Management tool and noticed that the SSD (the one with the OS) is set as Disk 1 and the 2nd HDD (I use for data) is Disk 0. Here is a screenshot:

Does this mean that my primary (OS) disk is installed on the SATA port 1 and the other HDD is on port 0?

Does it matter that the OS disk is on a port that is "higher" than the data drive? If so, how can I change it (besides opening up the laptop and switching the physical drive locations)?

I remember back in the day when disk drives were configured as master/slave but I guess they don't do that anymore but the idea of a drive having priority over another I guess is just stuck in my head.

Thank you,

You are OK as is and the OS was installed correctly. Just make sure that the SSD is the first drive in BIOS boot priority.
