    swallowed up 4 partitions

    I had 6 partitions.

I made 4 into unallocated space & added them to my C:\ partition.

    Now I have 2 partitions.
The EFI one is 100% free space.
    It is 161 MBs.
I was thinking of merging it too.
    Would that hurt ?

A UEFI system needs a separate Fat32 EFI partition to boot.

I suppose you have noticed your OS partition is showing as an OEM partition?

Windows 8 64-bit OEM Install Upgraded to 8.1 through Store

As per list item 8 How to Install Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 using the "Unified Extensible Firmware Interface" minimum four partitions are required else you won't be able to digest after swallowing

Disk Management does not show everything. There's should be a 128MB unallocated MSR partition in between. In addition to what Salgrass said above, you are also missing the Recovery partition. I wonder what are those 4 partitions that you deleted ?

Everything works good after hours of running.
I'll leave the efi as is.

    Thanks for the input.

If problems come up I have my Macrium image.

edit--- I just restarted to see if it would.--- It did.

To me, this is very confusing. So why does this old lady have so many partitions, and what can she get...

Recently, I bought an ASUS N series notebook with Windows 8. It came with 2 partitions on the hard drive - C:// and Data D://. I assume that C drive is meant for the operating system, programs and system folders. Data D: is presumably meant for all the user's data files including documents,...
